Junior Company
About Our Junior Company
In 1965, the Junior Division of the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) was formed. They have provided the LVFD with numerous tools and money over the years. Various members have come through our organization to become members and officers of the LVFD.
The LVFD's Junior Division program gives our young people the chance to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services in a safe, controlled, educational, and fun way, while providing our juniors the opportunity of becoming future members of LVFD emergency services. Reaching out to our youth has long-range effects, and encourages youth to take part in volunteer community service. They are extremely beneficial to both our department and local community. Benefits of our junior company include:
- Allowing our youth to gain insight and interest in becoming long-term members of fire and emergency services
- Increasing awareness among youth about volunteering and supporting their local community
- Providing our department with additional help in accomplishing non-firefighting or non-emergency tasks
- Developing potential leadership skills
- Educating parents and mentors on the importance of encouraging volunteerism
